Irrigation Wire and Solenoid Repair

Broken, corroded or shorted valve wires and failed solenoids located and repaired with waterproof connections, restoring reliable zone control.

Valve wires are thin, buried and easy to forget until something goes wrong. A shovel, an aerator, a mouse or just moisture and time can cut or corrode a wire, and then a zone stops answering or acts erratically. Solenoids, the small electric coils on top of valves, wear out and fail too. These faults are the cause of many mysterious zone problems, and they are easy to misdiagnose.

We locate wire faults with testing tools that trace the cable and find breaks or shorts without digging up the whole yard. Once found, we repair the wire with waterproof connectors and a protected splice. If a run of wire is badly corroded, we replace it or add a new run. Solenoids are tested with a meter and replaced when weak, and we make sure every splice at the valve box is sealed so the repair holds up through rain and freezing.

Locate, then dig

Tracing tools find a break or short so we dig a small hole in the right place.

Waterproof splices

Sealed connectors prevent the corrosion that causes most repeat wiring failures.

Solenoids tested

A meter reading tells us if a solenoid is weak or failed, so we replace only what needs it.

New runs when needed

Badly corroded wire is replaced or bypassed with a fresh run to avoid repeat service.

How it works

Our process, start to finish.

  1. 01

    Call and schedule

You tell us about your yard and what you want, a new system, a repair or a tune-up, and we set a visit that fits your day.

  2. 02

    Visit and inspect

We walk the property, find the water source and valves, test pressure and flow, look at every head and zone and take photos of anything of note.

  3. 03

    Design and explain

We explain your options for zones, heads, drip, controllers and savings, sketch the layout and give you a written scope with clear timing and pricing.

  4. 04

    Prepare the site

We arrange for underground utilities to be located, protect the lawn, driveways and beds and mark every head, valve and pipe run before we dig.

  5. 05

    Install or repair

We install or repair pipe, valves, heads and wiring with the right parts for each zone, flush the lines and keep the site tidy as we work.

  6. 06

    Start up and care

We program the controller, test every zone with you, walk through watering and winterizing in plain steps and set a reminder for your next check.

Questions

Wire and Solenoid Repair FAQ

How do you find a broken wire underground?

We use testing and tracing tools to find the break or short, then dig only at that spot.

What causes wire problems?

Digging, aeration, rodents, corrosion at splices and age are the usual causes.

Is a solenoid expensive to replace?

It is a small part, and replacing one is usually far less than replacing a whole valve.

Why do repairs keep failing?

Often because splices were not waterproof. We use sealed connectors that stand up to moisture.

Can I avoid wire damage?

Mark valve and wire locations before digging or aerating, and call 811 before any big dig.
