Pressure and flow decide how many heads can run at once. Here is what they mean and how they shape your system.
Two numbers shape an irrigation system. Pressure, measured in pounds per square inch, is the force pushing water through pipe. Flow, measured in gallons per minute, is the volume your supply can deliver. Pressure makes heads pop up and spray the right distance. Flow decides how many heads can run at the same time. A supply with plenty of pressure but low flow can run only a few heads per zone.
We measure both at your connection and design around them. Each head uses a certain flow at a given pressure, and a zone cannot use more than the supply provides. Too little pressure shortens spray and stops rotors from turning, and too much creates mist and wastes water. Regulators lower high pressure, boosters help low pressure and good design splits the yard into zones that fit the flow you actually have.

Many heads work best between thirty and fifty PSI, but each type has its own range.
Flow limits how many heads can run at once, which sets the number of zones.
Sometimes, with larger pipe, a bigger meter or a pump. We explain the options after testing.
