Spring Sprinkler Start-Up

A careful spring turn-on that checks every zone, finds winter damage and sets your system up for a healthy growing season.

Winter is hard on an irrigation system. Water left in lines can freeze and crack pipe, valves and fittings, backflow devices can be damaged and heads shift as the ground heaves. If you simply turn the water on in spring, you may find out about the damage the expensive way: a geyser, a flooded yard or a bill that jumps. A proper start-up brings the system back slowly and checks it as it wakes up.

We open the valves in the right order, fill the lines slowly so pressure does not surge and run every zone while we watch for leaks, broken heads and misdirected spray. We check the backflow device, valves, filters and controller, clean nozzles, adjust heads and reset the schedule for spring. You receive a short report with anything that needs repair, along with a recommendation for run times and watering days. A start-up is the best time to catch small problems before the heat arrives.

Slow, safe turn-on

Valves are opened in order and lines are filled slowly to avoid pressure surges that break parts.

Every zone watched

We run each zone and look for leaks, broken heads, misaimed spray and weak output.

Backflow and controls checked

Backflow device, valves, filters and the controller are inspected and set for the season.

How it works

Our process, start to finish.

  1. 01

    Call and schedule

You tell us about your yard and what you want, a new system, a repair or a tune-up, and we set a visit that fits your day.

  2. 02

    Visit and inspect

We walk the property, find the water source and valves, test pressure and flow, look at every head and zone and take photos of anything of note.

  3. 03

    Design and explain

We explain your options for zones, heads, drip, controllers and savings, sketch the layout and give you a written scope with clear timing and pricing.

  4. 04

    Prepare the site

We arrange for underground utilities to be located, protect the lawn, driveways and beds and mark every head, valve and pipe run before we dig.

  5. 05

    Install or repair

We install or repair pipe, valves, heads and wiring with the right parts for each zone, flush the lines and keep the site tidy as we work.

  6. 06

    Start up and care

We program the controller, test every zone with you, walk through watering and winterizing in plain steps and set a reminder for your next check.

Questions

Spring Start-Up FAQ

When should I start my sprinklers in spring?

After the danger of hard freezes has passed, often late March or April in Middle Tennessee. We watch the forecast and schedule start-ups accordingly.

Can I turn on the system myself?

You can, but opening valves too fast can damage parts. A professional start-up checks everything as it fills.

What if you find freeze damage?

We tell you right away, give a written quote for the repairs and fix them with your approval.

Do I need to be home?

Usually not, if we can reach the controller and valve boxes. We confirm access when we schedule.

Does a start-up save money?

It often does, because small leaks and misaimed heads get fixed before they waste water all summer.
